Long-Term Care

long-term care

What is Long-Term Care?

A combination of Medical and Health Care services required by someone on a regular basis for an extended period of time. This can include everything from needing assistance with bathing, meals, and medications to an extended stay in a nursing home. All of these things can add up to a huge financial burden if you're not prepared.

Long-Term Care had three different levels, ranging from basic custodial care to skilled care.

1) CUSTODIAL CARE
Primarily for those who need assistance with the six basic activities of Daily Living (ADL's) eating, dressing, walking, getting in and out of bed, taking medicine, and bathing.

2) Intermediate Care
For those who require occasional nursing care or rehabilitative care
by trained medical professionals. Some people can receive this care at home, while others may need to be in a nursing home.

3) Skilled Care
For people who no longer need to stay in the hospital but who require the direct daily care of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals. This type of care exceeds the "helping hands" assistance that family members are capable of giving.

*Studies have shown that the cost of Long-Term Care will triple in the next 10 years*

Long-Term Care is affordable and recommended while you are still healthy.

Annuities

What is an Annuity?

1. A financial product sold by financial institutions that is designed to accept and grow funds from an individual and then, upon annuitization, pay out a stream of payments to the individual at a later point in time. Annuities are primarily used as a means of securing a steady cash flow for an individual during their retirement years.

2. Annuities can be structured according to a wide array of details and factors, such as the duration of time that payments from the annuity can be guaranteed to continue. Annuities can be created so that, upon annuitization, payments will continue so long as either the annuitant or their spouse is alive. Alternatively, annuities can be structured to pay out funds for a fixed amount of time, such as 20 years, regardless of how long the annuitant lives.

Healthcare Savings Account

What is a HSA?
A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax favored account which you and your employer can make contributions to pay for qualified medical expenses incurred by you, your spouse and any of your dependents. The HSA takes the form of a
tax-exempt trust or custodial account.

Why open a HSA?
A HSA is a federally approved tax favored program that allows funds to accumulate tax-free to pay for current and future qualified health care expenses. The HSA is portable; meaning the account always belongs to you providing and excellent savings tool that can be used to cover the rising costs of health care.

H
ow do I utilize my HSA?
It痴 easy to use the funds in your HSA. HSA funds may be accessed by using checks drawn on your HSA or the HSA debit card. You may pay for qualified expenses directly by using one of these methods. If you have already paid for expenses out of your own pocket, you may reimburse yourself by writing a check out of your HSA. Make sure and keep your receipts.

Can I use my HSA to pay for medical expenses incurred before I establish my HSA?
No. You cannot use funds in your HSA to pay for expenses you incurred before your account was established. It is recommended you open your HSA as close as possible to the effective date of your HSA qualified health plan.

What happens to the funds in my HSA at the end of the year?
The funds in your HSA rollover and continue to grow from year to year. Each year, as long as you are eligible, you are able to continue making the full contribution to your account.

Disability Insurance

Your Ability to Earn is Your Most Valuable Asset
All income is created in one of two ways either from people at work or from capital at work. Dividends, interest and appreciation are the products of capital at work. Most people need disability income because they have not accumulated sufficient capital to replace their current income. If you are like most people, your income is the foundation that supports all of your future dreams, hopes and expectations. Your ability to earn an income truly is your most valuable asset.

Disability Can Strike Anyone

At age 31, you have approximately a 42% chance of suffering a long term (90 days or longer) disability prior to age 65. The average duration of a disability that has lasted at least 90 days is 4.7 years.
